Relevance Part A – SEO Search Engine Optimization
In the last SEO Blog, Part 1 SEO I gave you the stats showing the commercial value between search engine ranking & how by just increasing just one position in a Google search result will drastically increase the traffic to your website.
The little tips that I will share with you over the next few issues collectively can help increase your website traffic & profitability.
As previously discussed relevance is the key to good free search engine ranking (organic listing not PPC – Pay Per Click).
Let’s talk about a few aspects of what search engines consider relevant.
Page views -
If your web site gets very little traffic then it isn’t considered by search engines as being as relevant or an authority compared to another web site that has more traffic. Even though the content may be similar.
Tip – make your web site your home page so that every time you open a new web browser your site gets a visit. To do this go to Tools, Options, Main. This tactic may not carry a lot of weight but every bit counts.
Site Map -
Search engines are placing more importance on the use of site maps. The site map is a page that lists all the pages of a web site & how they are linked. The site map can help people navigating around your web site. The site map also helps search engines to index your web site.
Google sees web sites with a site map as a web site that is probably easier for a visitor to find the relevant information they are searching for, thus site maps can help your search engine ranking.
Page Layout & ease of navigation:
A web site that has a good layout that is structured so that visitors can navigate around it easily can help with Google ranking. Google gives more love ‘Google love’ to web sites where visitors can get the relevant information easily.
The structure of the source code -
This is the code behind the page, that search engines see when they look at a web site (the stuff
you don’t see) is very important as the more logical & clear the source code the easier that the search engine can read your web
site content therefore improving its ranking.
In the next article we will discuss a few more web site factors that affect the relevance of your web site.

Here are the stats about traffic in relationship to page order on Google from the world leading authority on Google traffic Market Samurai http://www.marketsamurai.com
The most visited website is the one at the top of the first page of search results it is Ranked No.1
Rank 1 will receive approx 3.5 times more traffic than the website directly below in Position 2
Rank 1 will receive approx 5 times more traffic than Rank 3
Rank 1 will receive approx 7 times more traffic than Rank 4
Rank 1 will receive approx 8.6 times more traffic than Rank 5
Rank 1 will receive approx 14 times more traffic than Rank 10 (last listing on the 1st page)
As soon as you go to page 2 of the search results, the stats really blow out.
As an example let’s say you are in position No10 and you get 100 visits a week to your website. If you can optimise your website and increase the Search Engine ranking to position No.1 you will have approx 1,400 visitors a week.
Would it be worth knowing the key factors that can help you achieve this?
Great read on…
Your website is like having a shop or an information booth. The idea is to have it so we have good relevant traffic visiting your site & then we can convert that traffic into business. Seriously it is no use having the biggest, most lavish shop if you are stuck in the middle of the desert, with not traffic. So the object is to improve the traffic we get to our website.
That is where Search Engine Optimisation comes in.
Search Engines will rank your website ‘Index’ your website depending on how relevant they think your website is to the search word or search words used by the person doing the Search engine search. Unless you pay the search engine for that ranking, that is called PPC (Pay Per Click) we will leave PPC for another E-News.
Today and the next few issues we will be talking about organic listings, FREE search engine listings. Were your website will be index exactly as relevant it is in relationship to the hundreds, thousands or millions of other web pages that also have those same search words in their title, description, content or source code etc.
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) is the process of optimising and promoting a website over the Internet for good organic rankings in search engines, with means not paying for the ranking, FREE listing.
