If you are looking to stretch your resources or capture a gap in the market, then spending lots of time planning and researching to get the perfect business model will not get you very far.

So what’s an entrepreneur to do to get his business launched, running and debugged? Ship then test. Now that’s an idea.

You won’t gain much momentum from focusing on drawing up plans before you actually launch your business. In fact, spending all your time on research has as much chance of getting you a successful business as getting struck by lightning while standing at the bottom of a swimming pool on a sunny day.

The premise of grabbing market share first before testing your ideas, is that ‘perfect’ is the enemy of ‘good enough’.

‘Good enough’ works in the internet space. Operators run beta websites in order to test a concept, be it a new product or a new technology. Risky? Perhaps, but so too is running out of money before you generate revenue.

Now my take on Practice till your Profitable.

One thing that all people especially entrepreneurs need to practice is “If it is not a Win Win Win scenario it is NOT ON”

So if the deal is not a positive for You (the business owner), Your Client (another business or community) and any third parties it should not even be considered.

Just to prove what we say and do works for real I monitored the first month of www.HopeIslandOnline.com.au. We uploaded this website on the 1st of March 2010 as a brand new website. The previous 2 weeks (last 2 weeks in February) we had the .com version as the testing and development site.

The first 30 Days we had total hits of 123,318 which is a daily average of 4,252 website hits

We all know that a hit is just when a page, image or file is clicked on and is not the number of unique visitors, just the same it is very impressive when we had NO PPC Pay Per Click or other paid Search Engine priority. It was all organic traffic.

So you want to know how we did this and how you can too

• Find enough spare time to run a few new and relevant news items every day a simple equation, no relevant content = no traffic = no website return. You have to put it in to get it out and it is all proportional to the quality and relevance of the content (the website copy)
• Link your website to every thing relevant and get back links where possible
• Link content to other relevant websites
• Submit news article snippets to Search Engine feeders
• Link images and use keyword in the title, description and tags
• submit links to social media websites like Twitter and Facebook
• upload videos to You Tube with good title, description and tags (Google owns You Tube)

Now there are more things that can be done and they all take time. It is not one thing that alone drags the traffic unless you are running a PPC Campaign.

PPC Pay Per Click is when you pay Google for a priority position at the top or right hand side of Google. Every time someone clicks your link you pay Google any thing from .25 cents to $15 this is calculated on the demand for the keywords you nominate to be linked to, the more you pay the higher your website link.

Search Engine Optimisation is the most important part of having a website, so many people get a website developed and then do nothing to promote it, like having the best store in the world and have it in the middle of the desert. no traffic = no value.

With millions of web pages wanting to be on the first page of Google, you need to take action.

If you want your website to be ranked well you can pay an SEO Company for there time and if you use a western (Australian, USA, Canada, UK etc) SEO Company you will be paying 10 times plus more than using a SEO Company in say India.

Be Warned Do Not Do It Alone, you will certainly end up in grief.

This article was prompted by a few good customers enquiring about SEO Search Engine Optimisation. The are getting marketers trying to push different SEO packages on them, from India, Asia,UK & USA just to name the main areas..

Before you just sign up with anything Please Call Me, a two minute phone call could save you thousands and make you money. A phone call to me is a good investment, like that !!!

Most of these spammers sent emails from a yahoo or gmail account (or similar) which shows straight away they don’t even promote there own domain!!

Now there are two areas of SEO

• ON Site SEO that is what we can do and you can do on your website to help your Google or other search engine ranking and
• OFF Site SEO which is what is done around the internet and not on your website to increase your search engine indexing.

Here is a brief example I launched a website 4 weeks ago to help our local community groups and promote local businesses. The spin off for me is that we pick up local businesses that want website or email marketing solutions that are effective and affordable.

Any way http://www.HopeIslandOnline.com.au has at least one new news item a day. They are all recent and relevant & because they are Google, sends out alerts within hours in some cases showing that that article, keywords and web links have been index already. Now that is remarkable for such a young site but I am doing constant ON Site SEO. The more I submit the more the Search Engine lap it up. I also have key programming installed for SEO which is an added search engine listing accelerator.

Now one example of OFF Site SEO is that all those relevant blogs, forums, membership and news websites that are, either relevant to you because of the industry, their product or there location. Use them submit a suttle articles and make sure you have a link init back to your website.

Now if you do that with a weak, non relevant website you will get a weak result. So pick them well. Find a go getting news or blog site be part of the community and then make sure you do ON Site articles about them creating back links.

This is a key point it make them (the other website) stronger at the same time, self praise means little but when others are saying the praise it makes stronger.

Now that is just one simple way. So make the time you spend on line more productive, don’t waste it all on Facebook as every little article and back link really counts.

Are you one of those people that uses a Yahoo, Bigpond, Hotmail or Gmail account for business?

What is an IFrame website?

IFrame is a website development process mastered by Find Net Solutions . It is a relativity simple matter when you know how! to Search Engine Optimize a second, third or fourth domain name using the one website.

I Framing is much more effective than just parking, pointing or forwarding a domain name, however it does take longer to do and does require some web hosting space.

With out giving all the secrets way an IFrame is a website frame, framing an existing website and using another domain name, title, description and page content, privacy policy, terms and conditions and a site map.

To the average person it looks like the real website, but to search engines it looks like a completely different (depending on description and content text) professional website with a site map, privacy policy and terms. The search engine can index the I Frame website and list key words and key phrases from the title, description and content. So it is like duplicating the site and tweak the keywords description and content to suite.

This is an example of a website recently completed by Find Net Solutions and a second domain name that is an I Frame.

So it looks like the original website in this case www.HopeIslandOnline.com to the human eye.

Page views -
If your web site gets very little traffic then it isn’t considered by search engines as being as relevant or an authority compared to another web site that has more traffic. Even though the content may be similar.

Tip – make your web site your home page so that every time you open a new web browser your site gets a visit. To do this go to Tools, Options, Main. This tactic may not carry a lot of weight but every bit counts.

Site Map -

Search engines are placing more importance on the use of site maps. The site map is a page that lists all the pages of a web site & how they are linked. The site map can help people navigating around your web site. The site map also helps search engines to index your web site.

Make your website work for you

Remember that famous TV advertisement for Castrol Oil, ‘Oils ain’t Oils Sol‘. Were the Mafia Boss demonstrates that the effectiveness of the oil is more important in the long run than the cheap upfront cost that Sol paid for a  budget oil.

Well guys hosting is the same the cheap option is not always the best solution for your business, So Hosting ain’t Hosting Guys.

What prompted me to run this article is that our help desk recently fielded a few questions about effectiveness of hosting, two that stood out were:

Your website needs to be hosted in a professional data centre with an A1 rated data connection for speed of data transfer (like a 4 lane highway). The data center needs to also have full security, climate control, automated back up of data plus the server needs to have a reliable UPS uninterrupted power supply. Now this can not be done in someones spare bedroom.

You need to be found easily.

With search engine robots and spiders crawling around the web finding and listing website content. This is done constantly so the people Googling can get the best search results for their search. Now if your website has a data connection to the web like a goat track how easy would that be for search engines to index your website, as it really should be ranked.

The other point is cost of the service you are getting. Now realistically to have and maintain a professional web server does cost money. You have the constant upgrade of hardware, software, software licenses, technical personnel, customer support, plus the other costs for security, climate control, UPS etc.

Now if the hosting service is dirt cheap what aren’t you getting? Or is it that their are so many hundreds of website sharing the same hardware & software resources.

Now I am not saying go for the dearest hosting service, as the dearest service may have to be dearer because their overheads are much higher, or they are less efficient. So find the common ground between dirt cheap and really expensive. As long as you get effective web hosting & the rule of thumb is small business should expect to pay about $1 a day for quality, reliable hosting and personal customer support

As a business owner we need to ask ourselves a question or two:

• How many extra products or services do I need to sell to cover the few extra dollars a month for good support and great web hosting.
• Can I afford to have the downtime if my websites and emails crash.
• How important is having a website that is easy for search engine to find and rank & how will the increased exposure to clients help my bottom line?

The most visited website is the one at the top of the first page of search results it is Ranked No.1
Rank 1 will receive approx 3.5 times more traffic than the website directly below in Position  2
Rank 1 will receive approx 5 times more traffic than Rank 3
Rank 1 will receive approx 7 times more traffic than Rank 4
Rank 1 will receive approx 8.6 times more traffic than Rank 5

As an example let’s say you are in position No10 and you get 100 visits a week to your website. If you can optimise your website and increase the Search Engine ranking to position No.1 you will have approx 1,400 visitors a week.

Your website is like having a shop or an information booth. The idea is to have it so we have good relevant traffic visiting your site & then we can convert that traffic into business. Seriously it is no use having the biggest, most lavish shop if you are stuck in the middle of the desert, with not traffic. So the object is to improve the traffic we get to our website.
